PHYSICAL FITNESS
Poor fitness can prevent you from being allowed to enlist or it can cause you to be discharged once you have enlisted. The best service discharge type is Honroable Discharge which means that you have fiathfully and successfully performed your duties to required standards and there are no restrictions towards the level of benefits you may receive after discharge. If you are involuntarily discharged for the good of the service due to failure to maintain adequate fitness then you have failed to meet required standards and will receive a discharge type that is not considered Honorable and this can significantly affect the benefits you are allowed to receive after discharge. Health, financial and educational benefits would be impacted by a discharge type that is not considered Honorable.
You do not need to be a body builder or professional level athlete to be considered fit for military service, but you must be able to meet basic fitness standards. Exact fitness standards vary among the different service branches, but there are core items that are universal. No matter the service branch you choose for enlistment, there will be times when your duties will have you moving swiftly which may require some running. At some point you will have to move obstacles, equipment or even carry a battle buddy to safety. If you adopt a regular exercise routine that includes, Push Ups, Sit Ups, Pull Ups, Running and a moderate weight lifting program then you should have no problems being able to meet minimum military fitness standards.Now.. if you are the type who does not settle for only meeting minimum standards then you can elevate your training with more advance programs. Whether you pay for the services of a personal trainer or you use the many free internet resources available, the restrictions or levels of your training are defined only by the choices you make.

Money Management
Financial mismanagement can prevent you from enlisting or can cause you to be involuntarily discharged once you have enlisted. The best service discharge type is Honroable Discharge which means that you have fiathfully and successfully performed your duties to required standards and there are no restrictions towards the level of benefits you may receive after discharge. Civilian courts can petition the U.S. Government to force you to be responsible for your debt which usually means that your paychecks would be garnished. In cases where you must be pulled from your duties to respond to legal actions concerning your financial status then you have become a distraction to the missions of your unit. If you are involuntarily discharged for the good of the service due to financial mismanagement then you have failed to meet required standards and will receive a discharge type that is not considered Honorable and this can significantly affect the benefits you are allowed to receive after discharge. Health, financial and educational benefits would be impacted by a discharge type that is not considered Honorable.
The best thing to do is resolve your debt problems before enlisting or at least have a clear plan for resolving any existing matters. If you have not been in the position of being responsible for finances then you should learn how to make a plan. Consider your total income and be smart enough to stick to a budget. Don't try to spend what you don't have. If you are budget wise and financially smart then the military will have nothing to complain about.
